Cover Supervisor - Graduates and Prospective Teachers
Job description
Pay: £90 – £110 per day
Position: Cover Supervisor – Durham
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Monday to Friday, 32.5 Hours
Contract: Term Time Only – Flexible Working Options

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals who can help create an engaging learning environment, support students’ progress, and contribute positively to school life. In return, you’ll join a supportive team with access to mentoring, professional development, and pathways into teaching qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pre-prepared lessons to secondary school students in your subject area.
- Encourage active participation and maintain a positive classroom atmosphere.
- Support the learning needs of all students through inclusive practice.
- Collaborate with teaching and pastoral staff to support academic and personal development.
- Take part in training and development opportunities, with the option to work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
We Welcome Applications From:
- Graduates interested in teaching or applying for teacher training.
- Cover Supervisors or unqualified teachers wishing to move into teaching.
- PGCE applicants seeking classroom experience before starting training.
- Aspiring educators considering routes such as School Direct or PGCE with QTS.
Essential Skills & Qualities:
- Degree in any subject (QTS is desirable but not essential).
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Confidence in managing a classroom environment.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student wellbeing.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working with others.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
