Behaviour Support Assistant
Specialist SEMH School – The Wirral
Are you passionate about supporting young people who need understanding, structure, and encouragement to thrive? A specialist SEMH school in The Wirral is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their supportive and nurturing team.
This school provides an inclusive, trauma-informed environment for students who have experienced challenges in mainstream education. With a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, positive relationships, and personal growth, the school empowers students to build resilience and achieve success both academically and socially.
The Role
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to help students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
Key responsibilities include:

Supporting students on a one-to-one and small-group basis.

Applying trauma-informed strategies to promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

Building strong, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and confidence.

Assisting with behaviour management using positive and consistent approaches.
-
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support staff.
-
Monitoring progress and adapting support strategies to meet individual needs.
-
Encouraging students to develop independence, resilience, and self-belief.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:

Experienced in working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.

Empathetic, understanding, and committed to child-centred support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
