SEN Teaching Assistant - Make a Real Difference

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs?
Teaching Personnel is currently working in partnership with several SEN schools across Wantage who are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join their team. These schools cater for pupils aged 4–19 with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Speech and Language difficulties.
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
- Use de-escalation strategies and behaviour management techniques where needed.
- Help pupils access the curriculum and develop social and life skills.
- Support pupils with personal care needs where appropriate (training can be provided).
- Work closely with the SENCO, therapists, and other professionals.
What We’re Looking For:
You don’t need to have a teaching qualification to apply, but we are looking for:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (in education, care, or voluntary settings).
- Patience, empathy, and a calm, supportive approach.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to use your initiative.
- A willingness to learn and take part in relevant training.
- DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one through us).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
