Behavioural Support Assistant – SEMH School (The Wirral)
A specialist SEMH school in The Wirral is dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for students who have faced challenges in mainstream education. The school focuses on tailored support, helping students develop emotional resilience, manage their behaviour, and reach their full potential.
Role and Responsibilities:
As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Implementing trauma-informed practices to create a safe and structured learning environment.
- Providing both one-to-one and group support to help students regulate their emotions and behaviour.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal development.
- Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to implement effective support strategies.
- Using positive behaviour management techniques to assist students in overcoming daily challenges.
- Encouraging and guiding students to achieve their academic and personal goals.
- Monitoring student progress and adapting support plans accordingly.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with students with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges.
- A trauma-informed approach to supporting vulnerable children.
- Exceptional patience, resilience, and empathy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- A proactive and positive attitude, with a passion for making a difference.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
