Teaching Personnel is working on behalf of a PRU located in Rochdale. The setting provides education for pupils who are out of mainstream education for a variety of reasons which may include: exclusion, emotional and behavioural difficulties, medical reasons, pregnancy and young mothers.
The setting is currently recruiting for a behaviour support assistant to begin in September 2017. The position is full –time for the first school term September – October 2017. The main aim of the setting is to integrate pupils back into mainstream wherever possible. The pupils who attend this setting often show signs of challenging behaviour and may have aggressive outbursts, so therefore the behaviour assistant should have experience of dealing with pupils who display challenging behaviour.
The ideal teaching assistant will also have an understanding of de-escalation tactics and how to prevent situations reaching crisis point. The role will involve working in collaboration with the classroom teacher to deliver targeted interventions that are designed to foster and encourage the optimal development of pupils with challenging behaviour.
Ideally the behaviour support assistant will have:
- Experience working with and delivering interventions to pupils who display challenging behaviour
- Desirably Team- Teach trained (Teaching Personnel provide training)
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification (Level 3 desirable)
- A sound knowledge of crisis prevention tactics
- A commitment to assuring that pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour are fully supported in achieving their optimal potential
