Behaviour Support Worker - Leeds
An alternative provision in Leeds are looking to employ a Behaviour Support Worker on a full-time basis this term.
The school is based in the Middleton area and has excellent public transport links from the City Centre, and provides care and education for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs between the ages of 5 and 16.
You will be working closely with the class teacher and SEN Co-ordinator to ensure that pupils’ holistic needs are met on a daily basis.
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting pupils both in and outside the classroom, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
- Providing academic support, particularly in Maths and Literacy
- Contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans under the instruction of the class teacher
- Liaising with Teachers, Parents, SENCO and Key Workers on a daily basis to monitor progress

The successful applicant will work closely with colleagues to create individual and personalised pathways for students that are built around their varied needs which will help them achieve positive outcomes and prepare them for their onward destinations into continuing education, work or training. Pupils access curriculum that provides opportunities for academic progression as well as vocational learning, whilst being engaging, creative, and innovative.
You will have previous experience of working with individuals with additional needs in an education, health or care setting and have a sound understanding of meeting the Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs of SEN learners. Additional training in Team Teach, Maybo or related accredited Physical Intervention training would also be beneficial but not essential, as this training can also be provided as part of your role. You will be confident in communicating with staff at all levels and in providing written records on a regular basis.
