Behaviour Support Assistant – SEMH Setting
Location: Chorley
Contract: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent
Salary: £13.75 per hour (PAYE contract)

We are recruiting for a Behaviour Support Assistant to work across a well-established SEMH provision in Chorley, currently operating over two sites, with a third site under construction. This is an exciting time to join a forward-thinking team committed to transforming the lives of young people.

The Role:

You will work closely with teaching staff and other support professionals to provide targeted support to pupils, helping them to manage their behaviour and engage positively in their education. This includes both classroom support and one-to-one work with pupils who may display challenging behaviour due to complex SEMH needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs across primary and secondary phases.

  • Promote positive behaviour and help manage challenging situations.

  • Work on a 1:1 and small group basis to deliver interventions.

  • Assist with academic support and the implementation of EHCPs.

  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working in an SEMH or behaviour support role (or similar).

  • Resilient, calm under pressure, and confident with behaviour management.

  • A team player who is committed to making a difference.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding and a trauma-informed approach is desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
