SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEN School – Burnley
£13.75 per hour | Monday to Friday | 8:45am – 3:30pm
Long-term role | Immediate start available

We are recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary SEN school in Burnley. This is a full-time, long-term position offering consistent hours and the opportunity to make a real difference to young people with a range of additional needs.

The School:
This specialist provision caters for secondary-aged pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and general Learning Difficulties (LD). The school offers a supportive and nurturing environment with small class sizes and a strong emphasis on personalised learning, independence, and holistic development.

The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with their learning, communication, and personal care (where required)

  • Work closely with class teachers and the wider SEN team to deliver tailored support

  • Use a range of strategies and interventions to help pupils access the curriculum

  • Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Help with daily routines and encourage independence

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working in an SEN or care-based setting (school-based experience desirable)

  • A calm, patient and empathetic nature

  • Strong communication and teamworking skills

  • A proactive approach and a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
