Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

Job description

We are looking for a confident and compassionate Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary setting supporting pupils aged 5 to 11. This is a full-time position with an immediate start, perfect for someone who is motivated to help children develop positive behaviours, emotional regulation and a love of learning. This inclusive and well-structured learning centre provides a calm, supportive environment where children feel safe, understood and encouraged to succeed. The school is highly regarded for its strong pastoral support, clear routines and collaborative team culture. Staff are valued, well supported and given the tools they need to make a genuine difference.

You will be supporting children with a range of special educational needs, including:

  • Social, emotional and mental health needs

  • Behavioural challenges linked to emotional regulation

  • Communication and interaction difficulties


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted behaviour support on a one-to-one and small group basis

  • Implement behaviour strategies and positive interventions

  • Support pupils during lessons and unstructured times

  • Build trusting relationships that promote engagement and progress


What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 6 months’ childcare experience, particularly supporting children with SEN needs

  • Experience with behaviour support or SEMH is highly desirable

  • A full UK driving licence is essential due to the school’s location

  • Calm, resilient and proactive approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
