Secondary TA – Wirral – March 2021

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a Secondary school in the Wirral area, who are seeking Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 and small group basis supporting KS3 & KS4 pupils with behavioural needs.

A Secondary school  in Wirral are looking to appoint a behaviour support assistant on a long term basis. Initially, the position will be until the end of the academic year but there is an opportunity for a permanent contract. Although a mainstream school, the school caters for individuals between 11-16 with a Statement of SEN or an EHCP, on the autistic spectrum and/or have significant communication and interaction difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

The role is set to start when students are allowed to return schools, however the school would like to interview asap.

Due to the specific needs of the pupils we would be interested in applicants with experience of supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour. The ideal behaviour support assistant will have experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour and understand how to de-escalate situations.

The ideal behaviour support assistant will have:

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (ideally level 3)
  • Preferably Team-Teach trained or other restraint training (can be provided)
  • A considerable amount of experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Experience working within a special needs setting
  • An understanding of the de-escalation tactics and crisis prevention

Applicants will be subject to variety of checks including: an enhanced DBS check, full references, including from your most recent employer and eligibility to work in the UK. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
