Future Teacher – SKiP Teacher Training Pathway

Location: Liverpool
Contract Type: Full-time (Initial 1-Year Contract)
Salary: Based on experience and qualifications
Progression: School-based Teacher Training (SKiP Programme) from Year 2

 

Overview

Are you a graduate with ambitions to become a qualified teacher? This Future Teacher pathway offers a structured and supportive route into the profession, starting with practical classroom experience and leading to full teacher training through the SKiP (School-based Initial Teacher Training) programme.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about education who want to build confidence in the classroom before progressing to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You will gain hands-on experience from day one, supported by experienced educators, before transitioning into a fully funded teacher training programme.

 

Year 1: Foundation Experience (Future Teacher Role)

As a Future Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of teaching staff
  • Develop strong classroom management skills in line with school policies
  • Support learning through classroom assistance, interventions, and departmental tasks
  • Build relationships with students and establish confidence leading lessons
  • Engage fully in school life and ongoing professional development
  • Receive mentoring and preparation for progression onto the SKiP training programme

 

Year 2: Teacher Training (SKiP Programme)

In your second year, you will:

  • Begin formal teacher training in your chosen subject (e.g., Maths, English, Science)
  • Teach a reduced timetable while developing your teaching practice
  • Benefit from regular mentoring, observations, and constructive feedback
  • Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and potentially a PGCE
  • Contribute fully to curriculum delivery and the wider school community

 

Candidate Requirements

  • A degree (minimum 2:2) – all subjects considered, with preference for core subjects
  • A strong ambition to become a qualified teacher
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to motivate and engage young people
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive mindset
  • Commitment to a two-year pathway into teaching

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
