Due to an increasing demand for specialised support at our client school, there is an upcoming requirement for a behaviour support assistant after the October half term break (November start). The role of a behaviour support assistant is to reduce the risk of exclusion and promote a positive attitude towards education.
Highlights of working as a behaviour support assistant;
Ensuring students are focused in school and avoiding being excluded
Working with an array of students throughout the year providing bespoke support to each
Lead group sessions along side the pastoral team with the aim of improving behaviour and attendance
Provide tutelage and mentorship to LAC students in need of guidance
Earn £300 - £325 per week, paid weekly
Our client secondary school is situated just north of the city centre, in the area of Crumpsall. The school serves a rich and diverse catchment area with the 1400+ students enrol from an array of backgrounds, adding to an already strong community feel throughout the school. Since the new building was built, there has been an upturn in overall terms of behaviour with the general attitude towards learning being positive, though there are still small groups of students in need of additional support due to their levels of behaviour. The school is situated a short walk from the nearest tram stop ensuring this school is easily accessible from Manchester city centre and surrounding areas for those who do not drive.
The main responsibilities of a behaviour support assistant will vary on a day-to-day basis, but the overall aim is to promote positive behaviour and help cultivate a climate for learning in which students are encouraged to achieve and attain as best as they possibly can. Though the overall behaviour of students is good, the successful behaviour support assistant will be tasked with those who regularly display challenging behaviour so resilience and patience will be two qualities the successful applicant will need. Previous experience in this role is non-essential, but would be beneficial though those with experience in community and youth work will also have a number of transferable skills.
Anyone wishing to be taken in to consideration for this post as a behaviour support assistant should follow the link below and submit their CV at the earliest convenience.
If you would like to discuss this position or others in further detail prior to applying, please contact Miles or Jack at Manchester North Secondary on the number provided.
