Exciting Opportunity: Behaviour Mentor
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have experience or a keen interest in supporting students with behavioural challenges? We are currently seeking dedicated Behaviour Mentors to join an Ofsted good secondary school in Bramhall. This is a full-time position available to start in September, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance and school requirements.
Role Overview:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students to overcome behavioural difficulties and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with individuals and groups of students, providing mentoring, guidance, and intervention to promote positive behaviour and create a conducive learning environment. Your responsibilities will include:
-
Behaviour Management: Implementing effective behaviour management strategies and interventions to support students with challenging behaviour, fostering a culture of respect, responsibility, and cooperation within the school community.
-
Individual Support: Providing tailored one-to-one mentoring and support to students with behavioural issues, helping them develop self-regulation skills, manage emotions, and make positive choices in their behaviour and interactions with others.
-
Group Interventions: Facilitating group sessions and workshops aimed at developing social skills, conflict resolution strategies, and emotional resilience among students, promoting positive peer relationships and effective communication.
-
Collaboration: Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other support staff to develop and implement personalised behaviour support plans for students, ensuring consistency and continuity of support across different settings and contexts.
-
Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitoring the progress and behaviour of students, collecting relevant data, and providing regular feedback to teachers and senior leaders to inform intervention strategies, support plans, and individual education plans (IEPs).
-
Crisis Intervention: Responding promptly and effectively to crisis situations, de-escalating conflicts, and providing immediate support and intervention to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people in a similar role, such as a behaviour mentor, youth worker, or teaching assistant, is desirable but not essential.
- A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and behavioural needs of young people, with a commitment to fostering positive relationships and environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
- Resilience, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, with a proactive and solution-focused approach to managing challenging behaviour and resolving conflicts.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with the willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and respond effectively to the diverse needs and backgrounds of students and families.
Benefits:
- Competitive weekly salary ranging from £419.25 to £500, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Full-time position available to start in September and continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance and school requirements.
- Professional development and training opportunities provided by Teaching Personnel to enhance your skills and knowledge in behaviour management and youth support.
- The opportunity to work within a supportive and dynamic school environment, gaining valuable experience and making a meaningful impact on the lives of students.
