KS1 Teacher (Years 1 & 2) – Full Time
Start date: January 2026
Location: Newton Aycliffe, County Durham
Salary: Depending on experience

The role:

  • To plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons to pupils in Years 1 and/or 2, ensuring that the National Curriculum is met and children are motivated and make excellent progress.

  • To assess, monitor, record and report on pupils’ learning and progress, adapting teaching as needed to meet all learners’ needs (including those with additional or special educational needs).

  • To work collaboratively as part of the KS1/early years phase team, sharing planning, resources and best practice.

  • To maintain high expectations for behaviour, motivation and personal development of pupils; to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating classroom environment.

  • To liaise with parents/carers, support staff, other professionals and the Senior Leadership Team to support the all-round development of the children.

  • To contribute to the wider school life (e.g., extra-curricular activities, school events).

  • To uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and ensure the welfare of all children at all times.


We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified teacher (QTS) with recent experience (or a strong trainee/ECT) in KS1.

  • Has sound knowledge of the National Curriculum and effective pedagogy for early years / Key Stage 1.

  • Is passionate about primary education and committed to child-centred learning.

  • Can differentiate lessons to meet a wide range of abilities and needs, including SEND and higher-attaining pupils.

  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

  • Is enthusiastic, resilient, organized and works well as part of a team.

  • Is committed to continuing professional development and reflective practice.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
