About the Job:

This Special School are seeking autism support workers confident supporting children with autism, sensory and behavioural needs in the school’s autism (ASC) department. They are looking for an autism support worker who can inspire confidence in pupils with autism, parents and staff. The job is full-time as a as a Scale 6 SEN teaching assistant starting in September 2020.

You will be a valued part of the team who work together closely to provide an educational environment which celebrates the uniqueness of every child. You will make a difference supporting children with autism alongside the class teacher and up to 3 other Scale 6 SEN teaching assistants. You may need to support with personal care, feeding and/or medical administration.

About the Special School (Ealing):

This Special School is in the London Borough of Ealing and has been ranked as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in their last two inspections. The school have a reputation of excellence for their service to children with special educational needs and staff through ongoing development and specialist training.

The school has two purpose-built departments, one for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) or severe learning difficulties (SLD) and the other with autism spectrum condition (ASC).

  • Ofsted Education: Outstanding
  • EYFS and Primary
  • Ages 2 to 11 years  
  • Girls and boys
  • 90 day places
  • On-site therapy team, hydrotherapy pool, spa pool, soft play room, sensory room and outdoor learning spaces
  • Minimum student to staff ratio of 2:1
  • A maximum of eight students in a class
  • Teaching and caring for children on the autism spectrum and with severe and complex medical needs since 2008

This special school are seeking a professional who is:

  • Experienced or trained in autism support
  • Experienced and confidence supporting children with special needs
  • Confident or open to supporting children with personal care (toileting)
  • Confident supporting children with academic learning
  • Keen to challenge and build self-esteem in pupils with autism
