Autism /Behaviour Teaching Assistant - South Woodford

We are currently looking to recruit a behaviour support teaching assistant to work 1:1 with an autistic child in KS2 to support the education of a pupil who also presents with associated behaviours and can be of a challenging nature. This will be working as part of a welcoming team in a special needs school based in the South Woodford area. For this role you will be working with a student who has complex behavioural needs so previous experience working with autism and behavioural needs will be essential ,the pupil is also extremely lively so you will need to be engaging, patient and also have lots of energy to bring to the role!

They are looking for at least 2 of the following qualities:

  • Previous experience working in a special school pupil referral unit , alternative provision or experience working with autsim/ challenging behavioural needs , minimum of 6 months
  • Experienced support worker applications will be welcomed
  • Support workers from mental health facilities or high risk secure units that have transferable skills working withautism /behaviour needs with adults or children
  • Sports coaches looking to transfer skills in supporting vulnerable young pupils' education
  • Confident , engaging , positive personality

The post is to start immediately and you will be required to commit to working during term time until the end of the academic year, there will be the possibility of securing a permanent contract. The school caters for pupils that have a statement of special educational needs and are of challenging nature so that could be biting , punching or physical aggression so you will need to have a good understanding to work with students that have additional/ behavioural needs and be able to support with behaviour management!
