Are you a passionate individual who has experience working with pupils on the Autistic spectrum? Do you have a resilient, empathetic and kind nature; and wish to utilise this to support pupils in a mainstream Secondary school?
"ASC is characterised by difficulties interacting and communicating. The characteristics of autism can be described as the 'triad of impairment': Socialisation - poor social skills; Communication - difficulties with speech language and communication; Imagination - rigid thought and resistance to change."

- Opportunity to work in an Ofsted rated 'Good' Secondary school with outstanding ASC Provision facilities.
- ASC Specialist - must hold previous experience working with young people with ASC to be considered
- Pay dependant upon experience.
With high levels of SEN present at school, Senior Leadership have continued to improve the support department, priding themselves in the development of their pupils. The incoming ASC specialist Teaching Assistant can expect to join a dedicated SEN facility led by an experienced SENCO and Senior Leadership Team, with a strong emphasis on the inclusion of all pupils.
The incoming ASC specialist Teaching Assistant will be required to;
- Provide day to day classroom support to pupils on a 1:1 or in small groups establishing good rapports with pupils, acting as a role model and acting on all needs as required.
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- Help to plan lessons by preparing materials and resources.
- Have the confidence to address conflict and challenging behaviour.
"The exceptionally positive ethos that pervades the school encourages students'. Their behaviour and their enthusiastic attitudes to learning are exemplary. The relentless focus of the head teacher, senior leaders and governors on improving the quality of teaching and of the curriculum has contributed strongly to students' improved progress. Parents, staff and students are overwhelmingly positive". - Ofsted.
