We are seeking a primary SEN teacher who has specialised in working with ASD

The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious and suitably qualified teacher for a SEN teacher starting in September 2018

  • Responsible for teaching a class of learners on the Autistic Spectrum
  • The successful candidate is expected to be committed to ensuring and maintaining high standards of achievement, in relation to the needs and abilities of the learners
  • Work effectively as part of a hardworking and enthusiastic team.
  • To be able to communicate to a high standard.
  • Plan effective teaching, management of resources, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating.
  • Have a sound knowledge of Foundation Phase and KS2 pedagogy, ASD provision, Curriculum and the LNF Framework.
  • Appropriate teaching strategies including assessment for learning.
  • A confident ICT user and effective use of ICT across the curriculum.
  • Working in partnership with parents/carers in order to secure an interactive partnership between the home, school and external agencies.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide and develop an extensive curriculum within the school environment that is
  • balanced and purposeful.
  • Working in partnership with parents/carers in order to secure an interactive partnership between the home and the school.
  • Ensure that information collected through assessment is used effectively in order to promote teaching and learning.
  • Be familiar with the Code of Practice and identification, assessment and support of pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Understand how pupils' learning is affected by their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development and understanding the stages of child development.
  • Ensure that information collected through assessment is used effectively in order to promote teaching and learning.
  • Monitoring and evaluate the quality of the provision and set realistic targets for
  • improvement.
  • Promote through personal example a high standard of teaching and learning.
  • Working in partnership with various agencies in order to analyse and address the learning needs of the learners in the class
  • Represent the school in a variety of extra-curricular activities.
  • Contribute to school improvement plans.

Specifically, in relation to pupils in the A.S.D. class, to develop:-

  • a positive attitude to learning
  • their ability to listen attentively
  • their ability to follow instructions
  • receptive and expressive communication in small steps
  • literacy and numeracy skills
  • social interaction
  • play skills
  • positive behaviour
