Teaching Assistants wanted with experience of Autism

• Team teach and Autism Awareness courses available through Teaching Personnel
• Use of Makaton would be beneficial
• Full time roles available

Teaching Personnel are looking for several Autism specialists who has experience of supporting primary aged children. The role will involve you working under the direction of the Teacher in Charge of the Provision/Director of Inclusion as appropriate to help students access the curriculum, both within the ASD Unit and mainstream classes as appropriate.

Other duties will include:

Modifying learning materials in order to promote inclusion and to ensure students can access the school curriculum.

Supporting individual students to access the curriculum, ie to facilitate access to lessons reinforcing the teacher’s instructions in a visual format.

Work to the direction of the teacher and to support the set up of individual schedules and work systems.

Help the students work as independently as possible.

Help supervise students at designated lunch or break times as directed by the teacher.

Help in the preparation and organisation of classroom resources including making adjustments in classroom layout.

Feed back information to the Teacher in Charge of the Provision on my observed difficulties in understanding or skills.

Contribute to discussion re IEP targets in the process of Annual Review.

Lead small group activities within a class, as directed by the teacher, to support students.

Liaise with relevant subject teachers regarding the most effective way to support pupils within the class.
