ADHD Experienced Support Assistant - September Start

Date posted : 15/06/18
£9 - £11.50 per hour + CPD

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

A top performing school in Darwen have approached Teaching Personnel in Lancashire to supply them with a member of staff who can support a child in Year 3 who has ADHD and other special educational needs.

The role is a 'challenge' as the needs of the child are very specialist; it is therefore important that the applying candidates can prove they have worked alongside children with ASC, multi-sensory needs and challenging behaviour. The applying candidate will need to prepare for a stringent vetting process in which the Head teacher will interview and observe a number of practitioners. This is a top performing school in the local area who provide other schools with support and advice. The Head teacher has been in post for over 5 years and with this she has turned the school into a beacon for education. The staff in school are very supportive and with this the learning environment for the children is extra special and the progress they make is exceptional in comparison to National Averages and expectations.

The role is a long term position working 30 hours a week on a temporary supply contract. You will be employed through Teaching Personnel throughout the entirety of the role and you will be paid in line with the role and the responsibilities of an SEN support assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for any L2, L3, HLTA or Teacher who would like to work with an individual child with ADHD.

In the role, the Head teacher has mentioned that you will work alongside the class teacher to ensure the classroom planning is differentiated to meet the needs of the child. Currently, the child has an education plan which the school are supporting and working on to ensure the child is making good progress. You will be expected to input your own ideas and feedback to the class teacher and the child's parents on progress. With the child being in Year 3, there are obvious safety measures that have to be considered and the Head teacher and SENCO will ensure you are aware of the behaviour policy and the procedures for ensuring the children in class are safe around the child.

In order to apply for this role, you must be able to provide relevant references in education or care settings and hold a teaching assistant qualification or relevant degree. The process with Teaching Personnel is streamlined but stringent. You must have, or be able to apply for a DBS with the update service on line. To add, you will not be expected to pay any sort of admin, membership or signing on fee to work with Teaching Personnel. We also offer a benefit for recommending other teachers and teaching assistants to the agency so please consider this if you register with Teaching Personnel. There is plenty of work to go around especially across the Blackburn with Darwen area.

The school are keen to appoint a practitioner from September and will commit to the contract for as long as the child stays in school. It is therefore important that if you apply then you will be expected to meet with the Head teacher as soon as next week
