Job description

Learning Support Tutor (SEN) – Make a Lasting Difference in Christchurch

TP Tutors is looking for caring and dedicated individuals to support children and young people with additional educational needs across Christchurch and nearby communities. This is an excellent opportunity for tutors, educators, mentors, and support workers who are passionate about helping learners succeed outside of mainstream settings.

Location: Christchurch and surrounding areas
Working Pattern: Flexible part-time and full-time opportunities
Session Type: Face-to-face tuition

The Role

As an SEN Learning Support Tutor, you will deliver personalised one-to-one sessions tailored to each learner’s strengths and challenges. You may support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, anxiety, or those currently unable to access full-time education.

Your role will focus on helping learners regain confidence, engage positively with education, and achieve meaningful progress at their own pace.

Key Duties

  • Deliver engaging in-person tuition sessions
  • Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
  • Encourage emotional wellbeing and positive learning habits
  • Track learner development and adjust support strategies
  • Build strong relationships with families and professionals
  • Create a calm, encouraging, and structured learning environment
  • Travel locally to learner homes or community settings

Ideal Applicants

  • Experience working with children or young people is advantageous
  • Suitable backgrounds include tutoring, teaching, SEN support, youth work, or mentoring
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Strong organisation and communication skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
  • Ability to travel within Christchurch and nearby locations

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
