1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Greasby (CH49)

Start Date: ASAP / Immediate Start

Contract: Full‑time, long‑term

Pay: From £13.75 per hour

Are you a compassionate, proactive and dedicated teaching assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? Teaching Personnel are seeking a committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with a primary-aged pupil who requires tailored support to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about making a meaningful impact in a child’s educational journey while developing their own skills and experience within a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning and engage positively throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised learning activities and communication strategies.
  • Support the child’s academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
  • Assist in implementing tailored support plans, including sensory strategies and alternative communication methods.
  • Promote an inclusive, respectful and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Contribute to classroom activities when required, helping to maintain a positive learning atmosphere for all pupils.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers to aid long-term development.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience supporting children in educational or care settings.
  • Experience working with children who have additional or special educational needs (desired but not essential).
  • A patient, understanding and child‑centred approach to supporting learning.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
