Youth Worker - Stratford

We are currently looking to recruit a youth worker for an independent special school in Stratford which caters to the education of 55 pupils all of whom have a statement of emotional, behavioural or mental health needs. Pupils are referred from the local education authority, from deprived backgrounds; many pupils here are associated with gangs, knife crime. The aim is to allow students to reach their full potential by motivating pupils to take an interest into their education with specialised support. This role is for an immediate start and you will be supporting in a secondary group of students of 6 pupils, delivering 1:1 mentoring and group support. We are looking for someone who is calm, patient, resilient, not fazed by pupils displaying volatile behaviours such as verbal and physical aggression and has previous experience supporting with complex emotional behavioural needs. You will be able to develop relationships with young people, an understanding whilst being firm and able to set boundaries.

Job specification:

  • Experience in supporting young people with emotional , behaviour, mental health needs
  • Able to deal with volatile , challenging behaviours
  • Has secondary experience or worked with adults with mental health needs or challenging behaviours
  • Will consider applications from people with a background in security, sports coaching, mental health or secure units
  • Team Teach training will be of an advantage in securing role
  • Must be available full time for an immediate start
  • Monday - Friday 8.15am - 3.30pm during term time
