Youth Worker- Rochdale- Team-Teach- Secondary

Teaching Personnel are currently working on behalf of a PRU located in Rochdale. The setting provides education for pupils who are out of mainstream education for a range of reasons which could include: exclusion, emotional and behavioural difficulties, medical reasons, pregnancy and young mothers. The position is part time and is initially temporary for the first term September- October 2017, however for the right candidate there could be the potential for a permanent position.

This role will involve working in co-operation with professionals such as: teachers, teaching and assistants to provide support and intervention to pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour. It will also involve designing and implementing outreach activities which are designed to support and encourage the development of pupil’s life skills such as: employability and problem solving. The main aim of the setting is to integrate pupils back into mainstream; however this is not always possible. The pupils who attend this setting often show signs of challenging behaviour, so therefore the ideal youth worker will have extensive experience of working with pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour.

The ideal youth worker will have:

- Team-Teach training (desirable)

- Extensive experience working with pupils who display signs of challenging behaviour

- Experience of working within a challenging environment

- Experience of delivering outreach activities designed to develop pupils life skills
