Youth Support Worker - PRU Classroom Support

Are you a recent psychology graduate with a passion for supporting young people facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges? We're thrilled to offer you a rewarding opportunity as a Youth Support Worker within our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) provision.

We're seeking compassionate individuals to join our team and provide crucial support to students with SEMH needs, this could be Anxiety, Depression, PTSD and complex social, emotional mental health problems. As a Youth Support Worker, you'll work closely with our dedicated staff to create a nurturing environment where every young person can thrive and achieve their potential, using a trauma-informed approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to students with SEMH needs within the classroom, offering guidance and assistance in both individual and group settings within our PRU provision.
  • Implement supportive strategies and interventions to help young people develop positive coping skills and manage their emotions effectively.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and external partners to devise personalised support plans tailored to the needs of each young person.
  • Facilitate group activities and workshops aimed at promoting social skills, emotional well-being, and positive peer relationships.
  • Monitor progress and evaluate outcomes, adjusting support strategies as needed to ensure the best possible outcomes for each young person.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
