Inner City Preston School- SEN Support Assistant position

  • -Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour and Special Educational Needs
  • -Level 2 or above qualification is a necessity
  • -Work on a 1:1 basis alongside a child with an EHCP/Statement

Teaching Personnel are currently looking to appoint a teaching assistant on a long term basis (at least one term) to work on a 1:1 basis with a child in Y4 who has funded support for his learning needs and behaviour.

The Head teacher in school has commented that ‘the boy is very polite and hard working, but does need to be kept within strict routines as this can affect his behaviour. We are looking for an experienced practitioner who can comfortably use a range of behaviour management techniques and learning aids such as PECs cards and basic MAKATON’.

The school has recently received a GOOD Ofsted grading in a full inspection- With the behaviour of the children and leadership being mentioned as the driving force behind the high standards of attainment in school. The school is located within a challenging catchment area, and the majority of children do arrive at school working below expected levels. There are also a number of children in school who come from Urdu and Punjabi backgrounds so it would be preferable to have a successful candidate who can speak a variety of languages.

The role is to start as soon as possible (due to a staff absence) and will continue, five days a week until at least Christmas. There is the possibility that the successful candidate will then be needed further after this. In the past, the school have used the agency to shortlist, appoint and then contract on a temp to perm basis.

If you are interested in the above roles, or would like any further information then please do not hesitate to contact me in the office on 01772 842155 or by email at steven.lamb@teachingpersonnel.com. As well, we currently have a ‘recommend a teacher incentive’ which means you will be liable to £200 if you pass on our details to any teacher friends.
