Position Title: Year 1 Teaching Assistant

Location: Chadderton, Oldham

Start Date: 6th May 2024

Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join our team after the May half term. The successful candidate will work closely with the Year 1 class teacher to support the academic and pastoral needs of our students. This role presents an excellent opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about working with young children and making a positive impact in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Year 1 class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons across various subjects.
  2. Support individual students or small groups with their learning, providing guidance and encouragement as needed.
  3. Assist in the planning, preparation, and organization of classroom activities and resources.
  4. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  5. Supervise students during class activities, breaks, and outings, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  6. Assist with the assessment and tracking of students' progress, maintaining accurate records as required.
  7. Collaborate effectively with the class teacher, other teaching assistants, and school staff to meet the individual needs of students.
  8. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and caregivers, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns or queries.
  9. Uphold the school's values and policies, promoting positive behavior and contributing to a harmonious school community.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with young children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to work.
  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
