We are looking for a confident and resilient Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 class in a primary school in CF3, Cardiff.

This is a highly rewarding role suited to someone who is strong, proactive and passionate about helping pupils succeed during a crucial stage of their primary education.

Year 6 can be a challenging but incredibly rewarding year group, and the right Teaching Assistant will play a vital role in supporting both learning and classroom behaviour.

The Role

You will be supporting the class teacher in a busy Year 6 classroom, helping pupils stay focused, motivated and prepared for the transition to secondary school.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils in a challenging but rewarding Year 6 classroom environment
• Helping manage behaviour and keeping pupils engaged in lessons
• Supporting learning across maths, reading and writing
• Delivering small group support and targeted interventions
• Working with pupils who may struggle with focus, behaviour or confidence
• Encouraging positive behaviour and strong work ethic
• Supporting pupils as they prepare for SATs and the transition to secondary school

The School

This is a school with high expectations and strong support systems in place.

Staff work closely as a team, and Teaching Assistants are highly valued members of the classroom who play a key role in maintaining a positive learning environment.

The class can be lively and energetic, so the school is looking for someone who can bring confidence, structure and a calm but firm approach.

Location & Transport

The school is located in CF3, Cardiff, with good access from surrounding areas.

• Accessible via Cardiff Bus routes serving the east of the city
• Around 15–20 minutes from Cardiff city centre by car
• Easy access from Rumney, Llanrumney, St Mellons and Pentwyn
• On-site or nearby parking available

The Ideal Candidate

This role would suit someone who is:

• Confident and able to manage behaviour calmly and effectively
• Resilient and comfortable in a busy classroom environment
• Positive, proactive and able to take initiative
• Passionate about helping pupils succeed in their final year of primary school
• Able to build strong relationships while maintaining clear boundaries

Experience that would be particularly valuable:

• Teaching Assistant experience
• Behaviour support
• Youth work or sports coaching
• Working with children with challenging behaviour
• Working with upper Key Stage 2 pupils

Why This Role is So Rewarding
