Job description

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and supportive Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in CF24, Cardiff. This role focuses on working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who require additional learning support, helping them build confidence and access the curriculum.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with children and making a real difference to their progress and development.

The Role

You will work alongside the class teacher and SENCo to support pupils who benefit from additional guidance throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN/SEN)
• Delivering small group interventions such as phonics, reading and numeracy
• Providing 1:1 support for pupils with EHCPs or targeted learning plans
• Helping pupils stay engaged, focused and confident during lessons
• Adapting classroom activities to ensure pupils can access learning at their own pace
• Encouraging independence while providing the right level of support
• Building positive relationships to support both learning and emotional wellbeing

The school is located in CF24, Cardiff, in an area with excellent public transport links.

• Easily accessible via Cardiff Bus routes running through central Cardiff
• Around 10–15 minutes from Cardiff city centre
• Close to Cathays and Roath, making it ideal for students or those living nearby
• Walking distance from several main bus routes
• Parking available nearby for drivers

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

• Patient, supportive and enthusiastic
• Confident working 1:1 with pupils who need additional support
• Able to adapt learning activities to suit different needs
• Passionate about helping children build confidence and progress
• Ideally experienced supporting ALN/SEN pupils, though training can be provided

Experience in the following areas would be beneficial:
• Teaching Assistant work
• Youth work or support work
• Care or support roles
• Coaching or working with children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
