We are currently recruiting for a Year 1 Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming and supportive primary school in the CF23 area of Cardiff. This role is to start as soon as vetting is complete and offers a fantastic opportunity to gain experience within Key Stage 1.

The Role

As a Year 1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support the class teacher with daily classroom activities

• Deliver small group interventions focusing on literacy and numeracy

• Provide 1:1 support where required

• Assist with phonics sessions (Read Write Inc or similar programmes)

• Support children with varying learning needs

• Help create an engaging and inclusive learning environment

• Monitor and record pupil progress during intervention sessions

• Support behaviour management in line with school policy

This role is ideal for someone who is patient, proactive, and confident supporting young learners in developing key foundational skills.

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply – we can support you with this)

• EWC registration (or willingness to apply – we can guide you through the process)

• Relevant experience working with children, ideally within a primary school setting

• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
