A leading and nationally recognised Special Educational Needs (SEN) school group, known for its outstanding commitment to inclusive education and holistic care, is seeking a dedicated Waking Night Support Worker to join its permanent team at the Lancaster site from September 2025.

Role Overview:
The Waking Night Support Worker will play a key role in ensuring the overnight safety, comfort, and care of children and young people with a range of complex needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and associated behavioural challenges. Working as part of a multidisciplinary residential care team, the successful applicant will help maintain a secure, nurturing, and calm environment throughout the night.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent overnight support and supervision to children and young people
  • Monitor the emotional and physical well-being of residents throughout the night
  • Respond calmly and efficiently to any needs, incidents, or emergencies
  • Promote healthy sleep routines and offer emotional reassurance
  • Maintain accurate overnight records and contribute to care planning
  • Work collaboratively with day staff to ensure continuity of care
  • Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality policies at all times

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or disabilities (desirable, but not essential)
  • A genuine passion for working in a care and support environment
  • Ability to remain alert, calm, and responsive during night shifts
  • Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and relevant training

Shift Pattern:

  • Waking night shifts (typically 10:00pm – 8:00am), on a rolling rota
  • Includes weekend and holiday coverage on a rotational basis
