Behaviour Buddy – 1:1 Autism Support (Full-Time)
Location: Chorley, Lancashire
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, half-termly basis (with potential for extension depending on pupil progress)

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist school to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Buddy to support a child with autism on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time role starting in September, designed to aid the child's transition from a mainstream setting into a specialist provision.

The Role:

  • Providing tailored, consistent support to a pupil with complex behavioural needs and a diagnosis of autism.

  • Supporting the child throughout their school day, helping them to manage transitions, routines and sensory needs.

  • Working closely with the school’s SEN team, external professionals, and the child’s family to ensure a smooth integration into the new setting.

  • Using a positive and proactive approach to behaviour management.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism and challenging behaviour, preferably in a school or care setting.

  • A calm, resilient, and patient approach.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships quickly.

  • A willingness to adapt strategies and learn from experienced staff within the setting.

  • Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, or similar) is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
