We are currently looking for a number of Learning Support Assistant's to work with young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). The school is situated in Wakefield and caters for pupils from 11-19 with complex learning needs.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working in a class of up to 13 students, all of whom have PMLD and associated medical needs. You will need to be confident in attending to the personal needs of pupils including the implementation of personal learning programmes that may include social, health, physical, hygiene and welfare objectives in addition to supporting and encourage pupils to engage in, and participate in learning activities lead by the class teacher.
You will take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school's policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT. The successful candidate will have previous experience of working with young people (or adults) with additional learning needs and have an awareness of meeting objectives as outlined in an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). You may have additional training in Team Teach and/or Moving and Handling, although this can be provided through Teaching Personnel.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Experienced in supporting individuals with complex needs within an education or health care setting
- Confident in meeting the holistic needs of pupils with disabilities, including delivering personal care
- Able to communicate with a wide range of education and medical staff as well as liaising with parents/carers
- Passionate about supporting the delivery of an alternative, sensory curriculum
