Tutor Wanted – Maths & English | Alternative Provision | Up to £35/hr

Are you a passionate educator who wants to make a real difference?

We’re looking for a dedicated tutor to deliver Maths and English support to pupils in alternative provision settings. This includes teaching in schools, homes, care homes, or community centres – wherever the student feels most supported.

Locations:

Various settings across North Tyneside – flexible travel required

Hours:

Part-time, flexible during term time (school hours mostly)

Pay:

Up to £35 per hour, depending on your experience, location and setting


What you’ll do:

  • Deliver 1:1 tuition in Maths and English (KS2–KS4)

  • Adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs, often including pupils with SEMH, SEND, or those at risk of exclusion

  • Build positive relationships with students, helping re-engage them in learning

  • Work in partnership with schools, local authorities, carers, and other professionals


You’ll need:

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English

  • A strong understanding of working with vulnerable young people or those in alternative provision

  • QTS or the equivalent tutoring experience

  • Child Workforce Enhanced DBS
  • Excellent communication skills and a flexible, nurturing approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
