Alternative Provision Tutor

About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Alternative Provision Tutor to provide high-quality education and support to students at Key Stage 3 and 4 who are currently in alternative provision settings across North Tyneside. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who may face social, emotional, or behavioural challenges, and be passionate about making a difference in their lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and personalised lessons to students across a range of subjects, tailored to their individual needs.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Monitor and track students’ progress, providing regular feedback via our bespoke online platform.
• Support other staff members, including special educational needs coordinators (SENCOs) and behavioural support teams, to ensure the holistic support of each student.
• Promote the social and emotional well-being of students, encouraging personal growth and resilience.

Key Requirements:

• Experience teaching Key Stage 3 and 4 students in Functional Skills , particularly those who are part of an alternative provision.
• A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students in alternative education settings.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of students.
• A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to think on your feet and make adjustments to support students effectively.
• A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE) or equivalent experience in an educational setting.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with a passion for supporting students who may face additional challenges.

Desirable:

• Experience in alternative provision or working with students with additional needs.
• Understanding of trauma-informed teaching practices.
• Training in behavioural management or related qualifications.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
