Job description

Job Title: 1:1 Tutor (Home & School-Based)
Location: Kettering Area
Hours: School Hours (Typically 8:30am – 3:30pm, flexible depending on placement)
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience and qualifications)


About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible 1:1 Tutor to support pupils in the Kettering area, working across both home and school settings. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, including those with special educational needs (SEN), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, or those currently out of mainstream education.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver personalised 1:1 lessons tailored to each pupil’s needs
  • Support learning in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and abilities
  • Build positive and trusting relationships to support engagement and progress
  • Work collaboratively with schools, parents, and other professionals
  • Track progress and provide regular feedback and reports


Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or support roles)
  • Good knowledge of the UK curriculum
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Patient, reliable, and adaptable approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable)


Desirable

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification
  • Experience supporting SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision learners
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
