Job description

Job Title: 1:1 Tutor (Home & School Settings)
Location: Northampton Area
Hours: During school hours (typically 8:30am – 3:30pm, flexible depending on placement)
Pay: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Tutors to support pupils in the Northampton area, either in their homes or within school settings. This role involves working with students who may require additional academic support due to a variety of needs, including SEND, SEMH, or those currently out of mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored, engaging 1:1 lessons aligned with the pupil’s individual learning plan
  • Support pupils in core subjects such as English, Maths, and/or Science
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles and needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress regularly
  • Work collaboratively with schools, parents, and other professionals

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people (teaching, tutoring, or support work)
  • Strong understanding of the UK curriculum
  • Ability to differentiate learning effectively
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule

Desirable:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
  • Experience with SEND/SEMH pupils
  • Own transport and willingness to travel within Northampton

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
