Teaching Personnel are looking for Childcare practitioners which adopt Trauma-informed approaches to support children which have a history of traumatic events early on in life.
Trauma results from an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as harmful or life threatening. While unique to the individual, generally the experience of trauma can cause lasting adverse effects, limiting the ability to function and achieve mental, physical, social, emotional or spiritual well-being. As you can appreciate, children dealing with trauma require additional support both mentally and physically to ensure they are able to flourish within an education setting.
The school:
The school is situated within Penarth, Cardiff, Wales.
The school supports young people from 3 – 19 using the curriculum for Wales. This is of course adapted to the needs of the pupils which can include a wide range such as additional learning needs, including autism, learning difficulties and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The role:
Teaching Personnel are supporting the school to find an individual which can support the young people in their education and emotional journey through to adulthood. As a trauma informed childcare practitioner, you will be there to take direction from the Teacher which provides the set up of the day and key priorities required for the day / week / month. This will be regularly checked in on with you and the young person so you have direction on next steps, but also can provide information to the Teacher on any changes needed.
You will be provided training by both Teaching Personnel and the school to ensure you feel equipped to fully immerse yourself in the role. If you feel you require further training at any given time, please request this from Teaching Personnel and we will then direct you accordingly on how to organise this.
