Trainee Teaching Assistant – Secondary School, Salford (Start: September 2025)

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Salford is offering an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join their team as a Trainee Teaching Assistant from September 2025. This is a fantastic role for a recent graduate or aspiring educator looking to gain practical experience ahead of a career in teaching, pastoral support, SEND, or educational psychology.

About the Role:

As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you’ll be fully immersed in the day-to-day life of the school. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons across a variety of subjects.

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support for students who require additional help.

  • Helping to prepare learning materials and maintain an organised classroom environment.

  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting the school’s safeguarding policies.

  • Building strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.

You will also receive tailored mentoring, regular feedback, and opportunities for professional development including CPD training sessions.

Ideal Candidate:
We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Energetic, empathetic, and enthusiastic about working with young people.

  • A confident communicator who works well in a team.

  • Organised, reliable, and proactive in the classroom.

  • Keen to learn and take on new challenges with a positive attitude.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Previous experience working or volunteering with young people.

  • An interest in a future career in education or youth support.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
