Teaching Assistant for Primary Outreach Work in York

• Full Time Position in York
• Good access by car and bus
• Monday to Friday 0830-1400, Term Time Only

The Job Role

You will be working on an outreach support service through a local alternative provision, providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils of Primary ages. The pupils you will be supporting have been excluded from mainstream education, or are unable to access mainstream education. This could be due to a diagnosis of ADHD, Autism, Behavioural Difficulties or having had a long period of time out of education. You will be helping to engage pupils into lessons and improve their mental well-being, as well as academic ability.

Person Specification

• Hold a GCSE in Mathematics and English
• Willingness to participate in other development and training opportunities
• Flexible and adaptable approach to working in Education
• Be resilient, charismatic and confident
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to follow direction, whilst using your own initiative
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with outside agencies, family members and senior leadership team
