Teaching Personnel are pleased to present a great opportunity for a teaching assistant with SEN experience to work at a partner primary school in Camden Town. The school are looking to bring in additional support for a child joining their Reception class in September with severe autism and they are particularly interested in candidates with a background in occupational therapy or speech and language. The school is very easy to get to, located just a five minute walk from Camden Town station; with its easy connection to Overground and Northern lines.

The school offers a challenging, high quality and creative approach to development, learning and achievement. They aim to give students not just a strong academic foundation but also life skills such as negotiation, empathy and flexibility and to let their students enjoy their time at school alongside this!

The supportive leadership work hard to draw out the best of all staff to benefit pupil's achievements. The children in the school have a thirst for learning and are keen to not miss out on the exciting range of services available to them. Relationships are extremely positive between all adults and pupils and you will be joining an incredibly supportive team of staff. Staff morale is very high and they feel valued by the school's leadership.

The school and it's community recently moved into a new stunning state of the art build! They are a growing 1.5 form entry school, so there's plenty of space to use for creative, outdoor and sporting activities!

The highly inclusive ethos of the school means excellent guidance is given to pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Accurate early identification of needs means that school leaders secure parental involvement with the school's plan of support. This allows great progress for the students irrespective of starting points. The team of teaching assistants you will be joining are well trained and work hard to provide a high level of support for all pupils across all abilities.

If this sounds like the right environment for you to build your career in SEN support, the school are hoping to interview as soon as possible so be sure to apply asap, or call into the office on 02075933088 to discuss the details. Shortlisting criteria include:

  • Experience working with children with ASC
  • Experience with Makaton and PECS
  • A background in occupational therapy or speech and language support
  • A desire to 'achieve more' and really engage with the 'Outstanding' nature of the school
  • Experience of working with Key Stage 1 and 2 children
