Teaching Assistant - Sports/Psychology

Teaching personnel are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant with a Sports or Psychology background to join our school in Cardiff. The position is a full-time role (Monday – Friday) and a daily rate of GBP60-75. You will be expected to work alongside the classroom teacher and other teaching assistants withing the mainstream school and also within the school set alternative learning provision. Located on the outskirts of Cardiff but with excellent transportation routes this school is easily accessible for those who drive and those on public transport.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have the following –

  • Ability to work in a team and individually
  • Able to handle pressured situations
  • Have experience working with small groups and on a 1:1 basis
  • Come from a sports or psychology background – The school have specified these types of individuals have worked well previously
  • Have the confidence to tackle challenging behaviour and to work with additional learning needs

Our school have adopted multiple alternative ways of teaching and helping pupils throughout the school years. You will be given access to the facilities in the school such as the sports halls, football pitches, ICT suites and many more. As well as working alongside proactive staff who are able to understand the needs of the pupils and support in your development on and ongoing basis.

Now more than ever the schools focus is the pupil’s welfare and ensuring they are progressing at the right pace. Due to covid-19 there has now seen a rise in behavioural issues, so the school are looking for a confident and passionate Teaching Assistant to help relate with the students. Your task will be to work 1:1 with the pupils as well as in small groups to help build a positive relationship with school and encourage their progression throughout. Due to the nature of school groups beign sent home due to isolation rules, you must also be confident in using IT software to engage with these pupils through blended learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
