Teaching Assistant

Teaching personnel are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant’s to join the school faculty starting September 14th. It will be a full-time position Monday – Friday working closely with a pupil with challenging behaviour. A great Cardiff location (CF3), the school currently educates over 1,000 pupils.

Due to COVID-19 we have been tasked with resourcing the right candidates to be prepared and ready to enter back into the school environment. You will be paired with one of the 15 pupils who will be joining the school and who are showing challenging behaviour and social, emotional mental health difficulties. After not being in a school environment for a long-time change can have a huge effect on everyone.

The ideal Teaching Assistant…

  • Be able to work Monday – Friday
  • Have experience with challenging behaviour
  • Confident with 1:1 support
  • Sports or Care background (preferred not essential)

You will be required to work 1:1 with this pupil working with them to develop their literacy and numeracy skills, but this will not be the occasion for every day. It is important to encourage independence and forward thinking while in school to help prepare the pupil for adult life. Meaning that you may be required to support other pupils with similar learning abilities in addition.

The school has a dedicated wellbeing and inclusion area for pupils with additional needs. You will be primarily based within that area to help support the pupils in a more controlled environment for their learning. With the additional responsibility of going to lessons to help other pupils adapt to mainstream school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
