Classroom Assistant – Yeovil

Flexible SEN Supply Opportunities | September 2026 Start | Potential for Earlier Start

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for flexibility while continuing to make a difference to children and young people with additional needs?

Teaching Personnel is working with a number of specialist provisions in the Yeovil area and is seeking committed Classroom Assistants to provide ad hoc and full-time supply cover from September 2026, with opportunities to start earlier.

These settings support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH, communication difficulties, moderate learning difficulties and complex needs. As there are several specialist schools within the area, you will have access to a variety of settings and age groups.

 

The Role

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Encouraging participation and engagement in lessons.
  • Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour support strategies.
  • Supporting communication and independence skills.
  • Working closely with teachers and therapists to meet individual needs.
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

 

What We're Looking For

Due to the nature of supply work, we are seeking individuals who can hit the ground running. Applicants should have:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant 
  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.
  • A calm, adaptable and resilient approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships quickly.

Pay: £14.25 per hour.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
