Reputable Primary School Seeking Graduate for Teaching Assistant role

  • Graduate Teaching Assistant position
  • Immediate start, working full-time on a long term basis
  • Key Stage 1
  • SEN/ Behaviour support

The Head Teacher of an Ofsted-graded ‘GOOD’ primary school located in Preston is seeking a university graduate to work alongside and provide specialist support to a Year 1 child with Autism. The role is to start as soon as possible; the working day is from 08:45 until 15:15. The vacancy has arisen due to a recent resignation; therefore, although the role is initially temporary, it is possible that the school will offer a school contract to the right person.

If you are qualified with a degree in Psychology or in Education with a SEN specialism, then this could be the ideal role for you! You would work closely alongside the Special Needs Co-ordinator and Class Teacher to provide specialist one-to-one support to Key Stage 1 children with varying needs working at various levels. The role is to support the pupil with their learning across the curriculum using an approach that suits them. They require high levels of encouragement and a good relationship with their support assistant is essential. Previous experience of working in school is desirable; however, if you have worked with primary age children in a similar capacity, we welcome your application.

Situated on the outskirts of Preston town centre, this primary school is one-form entry with the majority of pupils arriving from White British backgrounds. The proportion of pupils who have special educational needs is above the national average, as is the proportion of disadvantaged pupils. Children who attend are proud of their school and the work that they do. Staff lead by example and are ambitious for each and every pupil.

If you are interested in this Teaching Assistant position and would like to be considered for the role, please submit your CV via the "Apply Now" link or call Chloe in the Teaching Personnel Lancashire Primary Branch for further information.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role as well as the Right to Work in the UK. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
