Teaching Assistant
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
A school in Leeds (LS16) need a TA to assist in their Year 2 class for 3 days a week, beginning in September and continuing until at least the Christmas holidays 2020. They have set out the following requirements for the role:
- Experience as a TA
- Has worked with KS1 aged children
- Used to taking small groups
The school in question was graded as GOOD at their last inspection 1 year ago, and have remained consistent in terms of results and good behaviour across the school. This has largely been achieved by the Head building a good structure of staff who have been at the school for a number of years.
The school require someone to provide extra support in their Year 2 class, initially on a part-time basis until the end of the calendar year. This is because inevitably children will be behind where they should be due to the enforced lockdown, and not all students having access to remote learning. This will involve both helping preparation in Reading, Writing and Maths ahead of KS1 SATs, but also catching children up on Phonics work, and making up for lost time at the end of Year 1.
The Head hopes that having a TA with Phonics experience in the class at least 3 days a week will benefit the learning of the children immensely and mean they are sufficiently caught up. Of course this means that the booking may be extended depending on the progress the students show. Obviously a lot of the role is general class TA work, but involves taking daily groups of children for more small group work to benefit their progress. Particularly, the school would like someone with experience in Phonics programme Read Write Inc. as this is what they use, although any experience would be appreciated. As the school has a high proportion of EAL students, they would also prefer someone with experience in this regard as they will need particular help in relation to Phonics.
If this sounds like the role for you then please apply where indicated and we will be in touch
