Are you a patient, resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are working with a specialist primary school in Guildford that is looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their supportive and nurturing team.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine difference to children who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education.
The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour, social development and learning.
You will play an important role in helping pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to primary-aged pupils.

Supporting children with SEMH and associated additional needs.

Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
-
Helping pupils manage challenging situations in a calm and consistent manner.

Supporting classroom learning and individual activities.
-
Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills.

Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider school team.

Following individual education, behaviour and support plans.

Creating a safe, structured and nurturing environment.

Experienced working with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs.
Experience within a school, specialist setting, residential care, youth work, support work or a similar environment would be highly beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
