Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the patience, resilience and empathy to make a genuine difference to children who may have struggled within mainstream education?
We are working with a specialist school in Chobham that is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.
The Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties and additional learning needs. You will provide consistent, nurturing support both in and out of the classroom, helping pupils to build confidence, develop positive relationships and engage with their education.
Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

Supporting students with emotional regulation and behaviour management.

Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.

Helping to create a calm, safe and positive learning environment.

Supporting classroom learning and encouraging engagement.

Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team.

Implementing individual support and behaviour plans.
-
Helping pupils develop their social skills, confidence and independence.

Responding calmly and positively to challenging situations.

Comfortable working as part of a specialist education team.

Experienced working with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour (essential).
This role would suit candidates with experience as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Worker, Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker, SEN Support Worker or similar.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
