Are you looking for a part-time teaching role that offers consistency without committing to a full working week?

Teaching Personnel is working exclusively with a welcoming infant school in Southport to recruit a Year 2 Teacher for maternity cover. The position is expected to continue until July 2027, offering the successful teacher the opportunity to become a valued and consistent member of the school team.

The school is happy to consider applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers. This could be an ideal opportunity for an ECT looking to develop their KS1 classroom experience within a supportive infant school.

The role

As the Year 2 Teacher, you will take responsibility for teaching and supporting a settled KS1 class on a part-time basis.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the Year 2 curriculum
  • Supporting pupils with reading, writing, phonics and mathematics
  • Adapting teaching to meet different starting points and additional needs
  • Using assessment to monitor progress and inform future planning
  • Creating a calm, positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Maintaining clear routines and high expectations for behaviour
  • Working closely with the job-share teacher, Teaching Assistants and wider KS1 team
  • Providing clear handovers to ensure continuity across the working week
  • Communicating professionally with parents and carers
  • Contributing positively to the wider life of the school

The school is looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status
  • Has experience teaching or training within KS1
  • Understands the expectations of the Year 2 curriculum
  • Can plan engaging and appropriately adapted lessons
  • Has a positive and consistent approach to behaviour management
  • Builds warm and professional relationships with pupils
  • Works collaboratively and communicates well with colleagues
  • Can commit to the role until July 2027

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
