Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for work in Newport?

Or perhaps you a passionate graduate hoping to embark on a career in Secondary teaching?

Do you have an interest in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs?

Then this role as a Teaching Assistant in a Secondary school could be perfect for you!

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Teaching Assistant to work with Secondary school pupils at a school in Newport.

This is a full time role and will be for the rest of the academic year.  There will also be an opportunity to join the school on a contract pending a review in July 2021.

About the Role:

  • Full time role (Monday-Friday: 8.30am - 3.30am)
  • Secondary school in Newport
  • Start date 18th January
  • Paid GBP60 - GBP65 per day, term time only
  • Opportunity to work alongside experienced and hard-working ALN (Additional Learning Needs) department
  • Short-listing for role now – Apply ASAP!

With yet more recent school closures and disruption for students, this Secondary school in Newport is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join the school on a full time basis to help re-engage learners back into school upon their return. You may also be required to offer support for the vulnerable and key worker students in the Hub school during the closures.

The successful applicant will be mostly working within the school's provision to support students with additional learning needs, but there will be times where you will be providing in class support in other departments of the school too. Working as a Teaching Assistant you will be supporting pupils both on a 1:1 basis and and through small group sessions. You will also be expected to follow individual education plans for students and set clear and appropriate targets for their progress.

You will be fully supported by the ALNCO and other teaching assistants in the department.  You will also be able to complete CPD training to further develop your skills.

The school you will be joining is a large secondary school, based in Newport, and located just off the M4 so very accessible if commuting from other areas outside of Newport.

The school has a high percentage of students with additional learning needs and is above the national average, so the school is seeking a Teaching Assistant with experience supporting individuals with additional learning needs, or a keen interest in learning more about how to.

Sporting facilities at this school are excellent.  The school has a large Sports Hall and a purpose built football facility, managed by Gol, Wales largest 5-a-side and 7-a-side football provider.  This role would be fantastic for any Sport's graduates that were seeking a role within a school that also allowed them to use their sporting skills as the school has the facilities to help learning through sport.

Requirements:

  • DBS on the update service - Teaching Personnel can help you apply for this if needed
  • EWC registered
  • You must be able to provide two references when asked.
  • Previous experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals in some capacity (professional or personal)
